The project involved the sensitive restoration and conversion of a large 18th-century, Grade II listed barn, once part of a farm near Basingstoke.
The existing structure comprised a series of oak and douglas fir frames, reused from a previous structure.
The project brief was to adapt the barn into a dramatic, open-plan living space capable of accommodating the bi-annual Hackwood Arts Festival. The project required timber engineering, including carpentry and framing techniques, to carry out repairs and to strengthen the structure to support the proposed alterations.
