Ralph Allen School

Momentum have worked with local timber specialists Carpenter Oak & Woodland and local contractors Mealing to deliver two outstanding structures for Ralph Allen School.

The outdoor classroom with Carpenter Oak provides essential sheltered space with the main school quad, linking various school departments and forming a new external teaching space. The work required delicate detailing, minimalist foundation design and delivery within an extremely tight budget.

The replacement classroom block provides 10 new classrooms, funded through the Capital Maintenance Allowance scheme. The structure comprises a cross laminated timber frame on a thin raft slab. A bright, intricately detailed steel walkway gives access to the upper level creating a focus for the newly created second quad.
