Momentum has designed many interesting and high-profile tensile surface structures. We engineer tensioned fabric, cable-supported structures and cable nets, ETFE foil cushions, and single-ply ETFE. We carry out form finding analysis and produce detailed three-dimensional design and fabrication drawings and cutting patterns for membranes, and we can advise on tensioning systems and inflation pressures.
Our in-depth understanding of the non-linear behaviour of tensile structures and the properties of the materials involved enables us to engineer doubly-curved complex forms, as well as flat fabric panels for cladding permanent and temporary buildings. Many projects involve connecting tension structures to existing, often historic, structures. Our extensive experience in historic structural interventions helps us solve these projects in simple and elegant ways.
