This arts centre specialises in performing arts produced by young people. Its refurbishment quadrupled the floor area and included a new workshop, dressing room, costume store, dance and rehearsal spaces, as well as a new foyer and café.
Momentum assessed and strengthened the structure of the existing theatre to create a new wing off the stage to support enhanced air-handling and modernised theatre systems. The shell of the existing auditorium was preserved as the core of the new facility. The extension’s structural form was designed to be minimal and economic, with structural elements exposed where possible, maintaining visual emphasis on the original building.
