Cockpit is an award-winning social enterprise, home to over 175 independent creative businesses in London.
Momentum was part of the team to refurbish its Deptford site, an existing building built in the 1960’s as a council office building on the site of a wharf warehouse.
The engineering solutions followed a simple and pragmatic approach re-using the existing carpark slab to support the new studio building; a highbred structure with exposed, simply detailed timber framing and exposed block-work.
The studio forms the perfect background for the sculpture and crafts work studios within.
Structural work to the existing concrete warehouse comprised the support of a new facade and a new welcoming courtyard hued from unloved external areas.
A huge well done to the extended project team. We really enjoyed this project, and the results are incredible.
