Hardwicke Court is a privately owned grade II*-listed country house in Gloucestershire by Sir Robert Smirke in 1820. Led by William Smalley RIBA, the project involved the renewal of the back of house areas of the house and the rear estate yard with contemporary designs within keeping of the existing house.
In the main house, two rooms were opened to form a family kitchen and dining space, connecting to a garden room with full height glazing offering views to the estate. Behind, the former bakehouse wing was converted into a play room and boot room.
To the rear of the house the cow shed has been converted to a pool house, this involved the repair of the existing timber roof structure. The corner dairy was converted to a guest room with kitchen and shower room. The adjoining new estate building replaces a dilapidated asbestos store.
