Momentum provided structural and civil engineering services for the fast-track delivery of Sevington Inland Border Facility for DEFRA.
The buildings house inspection facilities for plant and animal freight from continental Europe.
The five main warehouses were designed as rapidly installed steel portal frames on bearing foundations. This included design and co-ordination of mezzanine and deck structures, loading bays, stairs, canopies, retaining walls and generator slabs.
We also designed two below ground drainage systems, one for typical sanitary waste and a second more complicated system for agricultural waste.
The facilities include wash down areas, inspection chambers, holding tanks and pumping stations. These systems were designed to suit the specific requirements of each warehouse and connected into the site wide drainage infrastructure.
