Holburne Museum

The redevelopment of the Holburne Museum in Bath has become one of the city’s best examples of contemporary design within a Grade I listed setting.

Momentum worked from outline design to construction on this award-winning, ceramic-clad extension. The façade cantilevers in two directions at two levels, allowing the building to gradually step outwards and providing a sophisticated play of shadows, light and reflection.

The minimal structure rests on a delicately-designed steel frame which enables the design to make visual connections with the existing historic façade and gardens.

Holburne Museum won an RIBA National Award and a Civic Trust Award in 2012 as well as a Museums & Heritage Award and a AJ Retrofit Award.
