Sam Wanamaker Theatre

This new indoor theatre, based on Inigo Jones’ original designs, required the fit-out of the shell of a building adjacent to the Globe on London’s Southbank.

With two tiers of galleried seating and a pit seating area, the candle-lit theatre is a uniquely intimate space.

As well as drawing on our experience of acoustic design, rigging design and set management issues, the project exploits our extensive experience of working with green oak.

The project also includes a careful adaptation of the existing Globe facility to open up the foyer space and improve audience and back-of-house circulation.
