The King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia’s first progressive graduate research facility, opened in 2009 with a lavish inauguration ceremony attended by more than 3,000 distinguished guests.
Momentum provided structural engineering consultancy for the design, manufacture and installation of three extensive temporary structures to provide shade for the event.
Pavilions were constructed from steel-framed modular truss components clad in fabric. The dining pavilion included a 13m-high picture wall running its entire length to allow the King and his guests to enjoy spectacular sunset views during dinner.
