National Theatre

Momentum is providing a range of structural engineering services to the National Theatre.

This includes reviewing stage designs of ‘Timon of Athens’, ‘London Road’ and ‘The Ark’, as well as designing three new temporary grids to enable the theatre to remain operational during the sealed removal of asbestos.

We also act as technical consultants on the Olivier Theatre’s drum revolve, a giant moveable structure under the stage, 15m high and weighing over 150 tonnes.

The aim is to strengthen the drum and increase the load-carrying capacity of this complex piece of theatre technology to allow ever more spectacular productions in the future.
