3 Mills Studio

Momentum worked with Gort Scott to design new workspaces for 3 Mills Studios.

The project required the creative reuse of four key buildings on the site, including the Grade 2 listed Custom House, the Rush House, the Roof Top building, and the locally listed Gin Still.

The 3 Mills site is London’s oldest still-surviving industrial centre, with the earliest known mills recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086 and extensive expansion the 16th and 17th centuries.

The site still comprises a series of listed and locally listed buildings, including a listed cobbled street and the Grade I listed House Mill, the largest surviving tidal mill in Britain.

The addition of new creative spaces allows for new business and employment opportunities at site by continuing the growth of creative industries in East London.
