Dome House

Located in central London, Dome House was originally a place of worship. Momentum worked along with Gort Scott and the rest of the design team to upgrade and renovate this existing heritage building into new CAT A workspaces.

We undertook early site investigations to ascertain the existing building fabric and in order to help inform our strategy for retaining and reusing structure.

Existing floor structures were retained and strengthened. Openings for new stairs and services were co-ordinated to minimise interventions required to the existing RC frame and steelwork. Existing slabs were partially demolished to provide an accessible entrance area.

The timber dome structure was exposed to become a new feature of the space. This historic structure was assessed for its condition, and sympathetic repair and strengthening works were specified. A new roof terrace and stair enclosure was designed in lightweight timber frame construction.
