Gantry at Here East

The Gantry at Here East is a new project that provides affordable studios for local creative businesses in and around the Hackney Wick area.

They are housed inside the remaining steel structure that was originally utilised for machinery in the Broadcast Centre for the 2012 Olympics.

Using WikiHouse software, the space has been repurposed to create 21 freestanding, and uniquely designed, studios.

The Gantry will provide 10,000 square feet of low-cost studios with 80% of the studios offered to creative businesses based in the Hackney Wick community. All the studios will be offered at rates that are affordable for artists and small creative businesses.

WikiHouse is an open source project, developing hardware and software.

Momentum have been involved in the evolution of the design with Architecture 00 since the first prototype.
