St Mary’s Church is a Grade II listed church built by Gilbert Scott in the 1850s in Stoke Newington, London.
To the south of the main church community rooms were constructed in the 1990s by Cadie Fleming Architects.
The new works involved the demolition of parts of the 1990s building and the construction of a new building between the original church and extension within the existing courtyard.
The new extension introduced a large multi-purpose hall suitable for various activities and events, which can also be sub-divided into two smaller spaces and is connected to a semi commercial kitchen and a service core comprising WCs & showers, staff office and storage.
The project was the winner of a Hackney Design Award, Main award, 2020 and also received a commendation in the Heritage and restoration category.
