Looking Glass Lodge

The Looking Glass Lodge is privately-owned unique holiday retreat, hidden away within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Momentum was responsible for both the structural design and glass engineering for this lodge.

The structural design comprised a lightweight steel and timber frame: due to the limited weight, the building could be founded on steel screw piles which worked well with the remote location and the steep slope of the site.

The brief for the glazing was to achieve optimum transparency: as a consequence, the glass has been designed to take all the loading, omitting (or reducing) traditional framing elements.
